For many outdoorsmen, an aluminum canoe is the only way to go. They are tough, rugged, and offer a lifetime of quality adventuring. They are also easily purchased through most outdoor retailers.
The aluminum canoe is typically found in two varieties; true aluminum and aluminum alloy. True aluminum tends to be much heavier, and as a result is also extremely durable. Alloy, on the other hand, can be exceptionally lightweight, but can also dent quite easily.
Most experts recommend an aluminum canoe for ponds and lakes. They are well suited to open water situations and can be left in the open during the off-season without having to worry about them becoming damaged. However, they do tend to be a bit heavy for river trips.
