
Being an outdoor instructor can be a very rewarding experience. The chance to teach people about the wonders of nature is, in large measure, the driving force behind many of today’s best outdoorsmen/women. For many people, there is no better job.
There are a variety of jobs for which an outdoor instructor can be ideally suited. From residential summer camp counselors to wilderness therapy guides, the list of options within the field is ever expanding. The number of training facilities for this type of work is also on the increase.
Becoming an outdoor instructor does require some dedication. There are many universities that offer degrees in wilderness instruction, many of which are four-year degrees. However, there are also basic multi-week courses that can be taken as well.
